Heating RODI water quickly...

Trying to transfer tanks today.. my extra water (about 50 gallons) was made outside and it's dang cold.

Is there any safe way to rapidly heat the new additional water I need to fill the tank? Can I heat some on the oven or in microwave to help the heaters out?

Obviously will temp/salinity match before adding with any livestock...

Thoughts or tips??

If you have a submersible return pump, place it (or a few) in the container. They use water to cool themselves, thus heating the water. You can also light the water with an MH if you have one. Sodium work lamps work well too, if you have a set of those.

You can heat some over the stove and slowing bring up temp I have done that before just takes forever

The problem with heating a small amount very hot is that heat will cause the calcium and alkalinity to precipitate.

A tip from coral vendors is using a a hot pot you find at Walmart. It's a tea pot with a heating element inside or heat water. Vendors use it to heat up the water in their frag display tanks in a few minutes
