Hector's Goby? Yay or Nay?

Looking at possibly picking up one of these today. They also have a Rainsford but I heard they are harder to keep. Does the Hector's do a good job on green film algae on live rock? Of course before purchasing I will ask the LFS to feed them frozen food and see if any eat it...wouldn't want him to starve if there's not enough algae. Overall, yay or nay? Thx

They sift sand for food. And they do it all day, every day. They are so tiny it doesn't seem like it, but they really need something like a 40 breeder at least with lots of sand for long term health.

They're very fragile, not appropriate for a fairly new tank---with fare much better in a mature tank. If you have a hair algae problem, try a GFO reactor ---not as cute, but it will get the job done.

Thanks both, I have decided against one. I have a bag of Rowaphos in my rear sump. Don't want to do another reactor, things seem to be heating up enough as is.

If you're getting a heat problem this early in the season, might think about a canopy or edge fan: that can help a lot with temperature.
