Hello, Geezer coming back to this forum. Paul B

So the surgeon removed my bandage, and my arm didn't fall off. he said there was much more arthritis in there than the X-ray showed, and my rotator cuff didn't have any more rotations left in it, as it looked like it had an argument with a chainsaw and lost. 😬

But that's what happens to real men if we live long enough. If you didn't tear that 5 or 10 times, you didn't do enough in your life or have enough fun. 😎

I guess I used my brain too much. And my back and bone marrow, a few other parts too.....
They told me I couldn't get the whole body implant. I cried.

I came into my man cave to feed my fish, and it sounded like Niagara Falls. water splashing all over the place like I had a manta ray with ich.

it was my diy algae scrubber. The mesh came out from the tube that supplies the water to it, so the water was falling unrestricted, right into the tank.

I don't remember how old the mesh is, but it is over 10 years old, and plastic tends to become brittle over time. It has 2 holes in it that stainless steel screws go into to hold it in place.

i sewed up the rip in the holes with fishing line but i need two hands to get it back on the tank so i had to call my neighbor because i wont have the use of my right arm for a few more weeks.

Of course, I could change the mesh, but it takes years to get the thing to grow algae like I want.

this morning I got up when I usually do at 5:45 to go on my walk. I lost a few days while I was in the hospital and when I couldn't stop screaming from the surgery, so I wanted to take a long strenuous walk today.

I went into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee and go on my fish forums to see what was new or interesting. Usually at about 6:45 it gets light enough outside that I can walk without a flashlight and I like to go to the beach to film the sunrise.

I finished all my coffee and forum nonsense, and it was still pitch dark outside.

I then figured that that comet that was heading toward Earh hit us and blocked out the sun just like the one that supposedly killed the dinosaurs.
(I don't believe that and know that ich killed them)

OMG, i didn't even hear the big bang and wondered if my fish were OK.
As I was looking at my computer, I saw that it was really 5:45 and I forgot that that old clock doesn't have a clue about daylight losing time so I had to set it. 🙄

So, I waited an hour and took a really long walk most of which was mostly upstairs.

Then after I finished that I came home and baked left handed muffins for us and my neighbors next door.

Let's remember that today s Veterans Day. If t were not for Veterans, we would all be speaking German and Japanese.

We are going out this morning for our Free Veterans breakfast then a half free Veterans dinner and I may go to Starbucks for a free Veterans coffee.

If I knew I would get all this free stuff, I would have stayed in Vietnam another year to get more coffee and stuff.

Last night I heard a big crash. I ran in the master bedroom and my wife fell on the tile floor. Her walker also fell making the big crash. This is becoming a common occurrence now and due to my surgery, I couldn't even help her. I would normally drag her to the bed where she would put her arms up on the mattress and I would pick up her legs to throw them on the bed.

Of course I can't do that now.

As I sit here with a broken foot and bored as xxxx. Cleaned the glass on my tank 2 times in 1 day. Can still get up off the floor. Might get one of those “I’v fallen and can’t get up thingies. Might be something you need too.

I went to my shoulder surgeon, and my shoulder is very painful today and yesterday. At PT the guy couldn't do much because of the pain (which I think is Sissy pain but I won't admit it)

The Dr. said the shoulder, arm and up in my neck is very inflamed so I can't use it or raise it for a few days as I am overusing it. My wife doesn't want to wave at pretty girls for me, and my fish don't appreciate that I have to feed them with my left arm.

I can't comb my hair or pop blackheads.

Yesterday the smoke detectors in my house all started alarming every hour or so on their own so I removed them. I got 4 new ones today and can't figure out how to replace them with only my left arm and my wife falls almost every day, sometimes twice so I have to drag her to a place where I can help her to climb up on something which is very difficult for her to do as her right leg and arm doesn't really work.

This is not working out well at all. :(

Oddly enough, I was just taking a shower, and I heard that crashing sound that I fear so much. I ran out soaking wet to find her sprawled out on the kitchen floor. Of course, she felt the need t vacuum which is an hourly occurrence. The vacuum broke when she fell and the dust and dirt went all over the place.

Using my good arm I helped her crawl about 20' to the couch where I helped her get on after about ten minutes of trying. So much for babying my arm.

Now she feels bad but this is happening way to much and I don't know what the answer is. I don't want her, or us to move to a home but I am not sure how to remedy this. She is a compulsive cleaner which at our age is just stupid.

So sorry to hear Paul, I hope you guys are able to sort out a plan that helps the both of you.

You often mention fish additions and maybe I've missed it but have you added any corals recently in the past few years? Have there been some you wish you could keep but they struggle?

Edit : apologies Paul I was responding to your previous post from this morning, I did not mean to detract from what you just posted about.

Chevre, I have added quite a few corals in the past year because when I cut out all that invasive sponge, I lost a lot of old corals in the process.
I have added some that didn't do well at all and some that are trying to grow through the glass. Most of those are leathers and frogspawns.

I also added a montipora which used to cover my tank but I don't know how it's doing. It doesn't seem to be growing so time will tell.

It seems after all that sponge, my water chemistry is very different now. Probably because I have not collect NSW for about 2 years as the water here now is loaded with nitrates from the farms and golf courses, the last time I added it, it took over a year to get all the algae out.

I have not had much time to do anything on my tank and I have large pieces of codium seaweed floating all over the place.

All these old gorgonians became covered in sponge so I had to cut them out wit the sponge. They took many years to grow and I will never be able to get that growth again

I need help on my reef. I have this macro growing pretty fast.

I didn't remove it because I kind of like it. I don't know what it is and am having trouble finding out. It may be tropical or from the Long Island Sound behind my house where, over the years, I collected a lot of water. It appeared a couple of months ago although I have not collected water in about a year and a half.

It is about 3" thick. I have been removing some of it from the edges because I don't want it covering the tank like my invasive sponge did but I don't want to remove all of it. It is difficult to cull it now just using my left hand but I want to keep it in check. If it gets too invasive, and my shoulder heals, I may try to remove it but for now, it stays 😎

Does anyone know what it is exactly? Some seaweeds are very similar but not quite it. It is covering about a square foot. Very cool, but I would like to identify it.

The growth pattern makes me think Caulerpa but, if it is, it’s not a Caulerpa species I’ve seen before. However, there are over 100 species of Caulerpa and less than a dozen of those are commonly seen in the hobby.
