Hi Guys,

Just want to introduce myself and hope to get to know some of you :)

Recently started up my saltwater hobby again, so I bought a Biocube size 14 (picture below). As you can see there is nothing in the tank yet, except bed of sand. Hopefully by the end of this month, I will have something more in the tank.

Any suggestions and tips are welcome. ~Ryan

well ryan welcome. first thing i would suggest is Live Rock, but dont get it from any store around here....lol....i have a few pieces of base rock in my sump you can have to start your biological bacteria population if you want. with that small of a tank you can do soem cool artsy rock formations. pm and you can come see what i am talkin about when i say artsy and you can get the rock. i have a 7g that has a unique rock set.

Hey Ryan,

You picked the right place to hang out, lots of knowledgable folks in the STRS area, I work in Endicott and also in the Quality field...Hope you don't get to attached ot that Bio-cube, because if you get the fever, you will have to go bigger :) anywho..glad to see you here!

Hello Ryan. Ask here before you do. Less mistakes that way. As Blugobi said and he is one of the gurus here, there are a lot of knowledgeable people here that have made all the mistakes for you so you do not need to go thru all the pain and suffering them and myself have experienced. The only dumb question is the one that is not asked. There is a frag meet coming up July 12 at nwrodgers. Even if your tank is not ready come on down and get and ask all the advice you can stand. The link is below. Good luck

Thanks guys :-)

I was actually thinking of buy a nano live rock package at Liveaquaria on Monday and hopefully by the end of next week I will have the rock. Since it's a small tank, I don't have a big plans for it lol, just some soft corals type and couple of fish (a jawfish,...)

Will try to stay with a small this time Blugobi haha, even if I want a bigger tank...don't really have a place to put it.

Welcome - I've been here off and on for a while - and you have ALOT of knowledge and great people here!

Welcome!

You are going to need at least 3inches of sand for a jawfish just so you are aware. I think it might need a little more room

haha as bluegoby says, you'll want to upgrade but you know what theres a whole nano! keeper group right here in the ST. Lower electric and lowe W.C. cost, some live rock will deffinatly send your nano on the right road. kupang island rock 12 bucks a pound, city zoo in elmira truly the cadilack of live rock

Welcome! As Vince said...if you can hold out look to some of us for LR. I have some live rubble and some base rock if you need anything. You will have that tank filled before you know it!

I got some base rocks from Vince the other day (Thanks again Vince). My live rock should be here tomorrow, looking forward to it :)

And if I need any more live rubble, I know where to go Thanks Frank.
