well, to be quite honest, I dont see any STN on it per say.....

however, The acro you chose for a newbie isnt the best NEW ACRO to get...

its Acropora Valida aka Tricolor acro.... and they are always the first ones to brown out if something doesnt go their way...

Well I'll be darned... There it is.. This is why my Tri-Color is BROWN!! All my other sps are fine. :) Interesting. Never heard that before.

OK back to the topic.. Yes definatley invest in test kits if you plan on keeping sps. And don't put your sps in direct flow from your powerheads either. It might recover, it might not but get your test kits ASAP.

Good luck,
Chris

Since your tank is only a month and a half old I would think all the above is probally right on the cause of your STN. I would also use some seachems reef dip and dip this specimen. Just to verify that you don't see any AEFW. I thought I had RTN as well, but my Water kept checking out fine. Did a reef dip and to my suprise I found a couple of stow aways. Since you stated that this had just come in to your LFS, it could be a possibility.

Shawnts, I used to use the generic test kit with a picture of a fish in doctors clothing. Is it still too soon to be putting acros in?

If your tank is only 1 month and a half old... I would say yes, way to young...
yes that generic Aquarium Pharm. test kit is ... not the best kit to say the least.

Well I'll be darned... There it is.. This is why my Tri-Color is BROWN!! All my other sps are fine. Interesting. Never heard that before.

If you guys are trying to be smart then you need to explain yourselfs...

I have always been told that Valida Acros are always the ones to brown out first? Is this not true?

Sarcastic remarks shouldnt come up in a serious discussion about STN/RTN problems someone is having.
