Help! Anen and PH fought....

Hey all,
New user long time browser, however this time i need your help.
My ocellaris anen was moving along the glass for the first time and i dint worry too much, however when i got home today he was being sucked into the power head.
I imediately switched it off, however it looks like he had about %50-60 of his tenticles ripped off, the main body looks as if it wasnt touched, the feet were still sticky, and the other tenticles still inflated.
however the issue is im not too sure if he will survive and as well the water was cloudy...

so my questions are;
Is the water ok? as the body was not dammaged.
Will it survive?

I have had this happen to mine when it split. If the disc was not damaged he will likely be fine. I hope you have a good skimmer, it will be working overtime to clean up the water. Check it multiple times today so it doesn't overflow. Just keep an eye on your nem. You will know in a day or two if he is going to make it.

now just a few noob questions. I have not got a skimmer, but i do have one of the built in filters in my tank, it so far has not caused a problem but i do regular water changes (every 3 weeks) should i do something different for the time being, IE weekly, or even every 3rd day changes for the time being or should i move the nem to my quarantine tank?

in other news the nem looks alot happier the foot is now fully open and the clowns are back into it. It looks like it has taken a massive hit by the power head, but it looks ok.

when you say your nem split can you explain what causes this, as this nem cost me $180, and apart from being sad about its costly destruction if it split i could trade the other one in for something nice. so in turn what causes them to split?

I would leave you nem put, qt will only cause additional stress. Do a decent water change today since you don't have skimmer. Also don't feed him until he is completely recovered and ready to take food. The best thing you can do for a nem is keep things stable and don't do any major work in your aquarium until he is recovered.

On that note power heads are dangerous. I had mine covered with hose from the beginning to prevent a nem accident. It made no difference. I now have a vortech mp40, it is made very well and comes with a sponge to protect against these types of accidents. So far so good but these are very pricey pumps. If you do decide to change up your power heads, i would just unplug them and wait until them nem has recovered a bit before fishing them out.

As for splitting, I am not the best person to ask. I have had mine for a couple years and he has only split once. He got huge, maybe 16 in across and split over night. I had no clue it was happening until I woke up one morning to 2 Nems instead of 1
