can't figure out what happened...

-digital display is blank and will not turn back on.
-both eb8's blink orange
-main aqua controler has green light which will stay at green momentarily but then starts blinking...

TRIED UNPLUGGING IT AND TURNING IT BACK ON AND NOTHING HAPPENS.

help!

Have you done anything recently to the Apex or had any power brownouts that you know of? It sounds like the Apex is rebooting or that the firmware is corrupt?

Nope nothing that I know of except turning a motor off and back on... an hour later it's down, no power down that I've noticed... what should I do Ken? is this thing dead? or is there a boot we can try on it?

The LEDs on the Apex; what are they?

just tried to do the firmware update through the online connection and it will not connect and can't control anything at all.

Are there lights on the Apex? You are connecting to the Apex hardwire and not wireless correct; the Apex upload won't work if the Apex is connected viw a wireless adapter.

leds on the eb8's are blinking orange... on both of them
the display will not power up...
the main unit is solid green.

Sorry, I didn't see this. If the Apex is solid green then it is likely working and maybe only that your IP changed when you rebooted. Try this:

(be sure the Apex is not wireless)

Start the uploader and wait until it starts counting connection retries; at this point it is scanning for Apex units.

Now, power cycle the Apex; the LED will start flashing and withing a few seconds the Ethernet LEDs should come on and the upload should start.

ok forget about the firmware update... I just narrowed it down to eb8 #1 when I plug the display into my eb8 #2 and unplugged everything from eb8 #1 everything powers up. looks as if I have a bad eb8... damn it... is there anything that I could do to troubleshoot the bad eb8?

Not really anyting that I can think of; from your description it sounds like it might be a bad xcvr in the eb8.

and what exctly is an xcvr??? and what could have caused this? do you think Neptune can do anything to get this going?

BTW, do you know what the warrantee of the eb8's are? I hope neptune will help get this thing going.

I think the warranty is 1 year. Xcvr is transciever; it is the electronics that interfaces to the Aquabus. I don't know if there is anything Neptune can do remotely; you would need to ask them.

thanks for all of your help ken... I called neptune and spoke to Curt who tried to go online and fix remotely but couldn't. However, something is definatly wrong and its still under warrante so its going back. However, I have to pick up the charge to send it to them :furious: Not sure why I have to pay to ship something that is still under warantee? I can understand if its not but...If you buy something and its broken you get an exchange or the company ships you a replacement part. If they want the bad part they send you a return lable, not the case here.

We'll have to see how long it will be until I get the thing back.
