Help! Biocube 29 + Tunze Skimmer

Hi all,

I have a tunze nano skimmer in my biocube 29 but I have a big problem!

The water level in the middle chamber decreases as water evaporates and the skimmer won't work properly.

How do other people use these skimmers in their biocubes??

Thanks!!

Best bet is to get an ATO. not only will it help keep the water level at the needed level for the skimmer, but also keep your salinity levels consistant.

How much $ is an ATO?

I don't even have an ATO for my 150g tank... I didn't want to go overboard on this little one :(

smaller tanks sometime require more equipment aand more care b/c they are so small. The evap rate on your nano is more noticable than on your 150. An ATO by JBJ is like 90 bucks.

If you have a little ingenuity and some diy skills, browse around for a diy ato thread. I believe you could easily get away with spending <50 bucks on the setup, and would really help your situation. The Tunze's are very finicky when it comes to water level...

Well I'm def lazy so I'll look into this JBJ one.

Could you please send me a link to it? Is it just plug and play and can fit into the biocube stand??

thanks for the input everyone else. DIY just isnt' for me.. my DIY sump took 6+months and It's still not setup :(

I was looking at some Tunze ATO for my 150 at one point and it was like 250+ I think.

you can get the ATO for like 70 bucks at petsolutions.com

You will need a bucket and a pump to return water to the tank from the bucket; the ATO has all the sensors you need, so all you need to get in addition to the ATO is the bucket, a pump, and some hosing.
