I bought this little guy a week ago for my female a mate sense my last male jump out the tank. But he has been eating and showing normal activity and always swimming with my female without any aggresion so it can't be from her bullying him. He eats well and shows no sign of disease and has full coloration. But this morning I woke up to find him just sitting on the sandbed right side up and moving his front fins to move only along the sand. No rapid gill or mouth movements. When I coaxe him up in the water column he will swim out of my hand normally and dart back to the sand. PLEASE HELP.

Ok I do not get this. The same clownfish which looked like he was on the path to death row is swimming circles around my female as if nothing happened. I don't get this I'm confused? o_O (confused smily)

I am by no means an expert, but clowns have been seen sleeping in the most peculiar ways, both floating at the surface and as you describe sitting on the sandbed.

Most likely sleeping because he's alert to all the movement and investigating everything that happens to pass buy him

My clown sleeps on her side on the sandbed.. Also she spends a significant amount of time just lying sideways on the sand.. (had her for almost 2 years). As long as the fish is eating and reactive I wouldn't worry

My female clown used to sleep every night floating on her side at the top of the tank in my nano. This was her only odd behavior and she was seemingly healthy 100% of the rest of the time.

Now she sleeps in a patch of GHA in my 55. :)

Thanks for support everyone just glad it was sleeping. You will kinda freak out when your half asleep and see a fish on the bottom

My female Black Occy did the exact same thing.
Do you think she could've been really tired from all the spawning so she took a day off the rest? :lmao:
