Help catching fish

I am having a really hard time catching a few fish. Does anyone have a really nice trap that I can borrow or any other ideas that work really well? I have tried the plastic bottle method and it hasnt worked. Im almost ready to use hooks and fishing line...

I cant catch them with nets...

Ive caught a lot of tricky fish before and spent hours just to catch them but I have never had this much trouble before.

Any help is greatly appreciated. I have too many fish in my tank and need to get rid of some to free up space for the new ones.

Mirror in a container or even just hold the mirror to the tank. Works for some fish.

What kind of fish are you trying to catch?

I just read a few weeks ago to use a hair net strung between the rocks. Supposedly it disappeares under water and you can chase the fish into it. Never tried it but seems like it would work.

Good luck been there to the point of tearing down my entire tank to remove a few fish over the years.. Now I'm a lot more keen to staying away from anything remotely mean =).. Except my old clowns I think since they are 13+ they deserve to be grumpy in middle age lol..

There is also the "drain and net" approach. Drain the tank down to the height of the fish and then calmly net it / them. Should be quick. Then fill the tank back up. Use a spray bottle loaded with tank water to keep things moist while draining and filling if need be.

+1 on that idea. I usually have a extra egg crate with narrow holes to divide the tank.
