Help choosing Tunze Streams

Hi Roger,

I am having a custom ELOS 220 gallon tank built (55l x 39w x 24h), viewable from 4 sides with a single corner overflow. I am panning to keep mainly SPS and want to minimize equipment in the tank. Therefore the Streams will be attached on the corner overflow in one single corner of the tank.

Would two 6205's be sufficient, or perhaps a single 6205 in the corner, supplemented by two Nanostreams 6055's conceled in stream rocks and placed in the opposite area of the tank?

I would like to avoid using a Wavebox and only use Streams and Nanostreams, and the rocks to hide them if necessary, all connected to a 7095 or 7096 controller.

What combination would you recommend?

I am also planning to use the safety connector and have two pumps connected to a dual 12V 52Ah (102Ah total) car battery set-up. Do you know how much current the 6205's and the 6055's draw on 12 V so I can calculate their run time?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

I think the plan of 1 6205 and 2 6055's could work. I would run just the 6055's on the safety connectors, it would be easier. You can run a 6055 in a pinch for 3-4 hours off a 12V lantern battery so they don't draw much power at all. They use about 800mA at 12V. I would just factor 1 Amp for simplicity and factoring losses to wiring, battery age, etc. The 6205 though would need about 2.5 Amps.

Hi Roger, I was otherwise thinking of using 3 6105 streams either all attached to the corner overflow, with each pointing in a different direction. The first pointing along the long part of the tank, the second pointing diagonally across the tank and the third pointing along the short end of the tank, or alternatively have one of the three 6105s hidden in a stream rock diagonally opposite and pointing towards the overflow. What are your thoughts?

On another note, I see that the 6105 streams have a smaller diameter outlet compared to the 6205/6305 models. If I were to purchase as a replacement the housing of the 6205 streams and use those with the 6105 pumps, would that be possible and would it increase or widen the flow pattern?

Many thanks in advance.

That could work, I don't necessarily see the need for 3 6205.13 shrouds, it would work but the flow would have only a 4ft reach and with three pumps on one side you don't necessarily need the wider diameter. I think having one in a stream rock is a better idea and just two on the overflow but you would just have to try it.
