Help! Clownfish are sick, not sure with what!!!

Last night all was fine and I decided to feed the anemone and the fish some storebought fresh salmon...

Today both are not coming out, my orange ocellaris has slightly protruding eyes (this is slight, they are both equal in size and not enormous at all), and i'm not sure on the black one. They are both being seclusive, and they both have their fins down and the black one seems to be swimming primarily upside down, but not looking helpless. They are hiding under the anemone.

The anemone looks fine, the coral looks fine. I have no other fish, just two clowns. I am heating up saltwater for a water change right now.

What is this, and what can I do? Please help!

Well, i've changed water and they seem to be more active. I also shut the light off, just in case they were having eye problems. I might be imagining the eye thing, I think i'll see how they look tomorrow. I'll do another water change if not all better.

I did test the params, and nitrite seems to be non-existant, and ammonia low to nil ( < .01 ppm on the seachem test)

Hi Dan,

I'd say they do look better, but still seems like something is wrong. There is an odd feeling of upset or stress in the tank and i'm not sure why. I'm going to see if they'll eat tomorrow (they ignored food today).

Thanks for checking, i'll keep you updated...

Check ammonia?

Declining water conditions can trigger pop eye like symptoms.

fwiw: I would not be surprised if there is some fresh salmon decomposing in the rocks. how large were the pieces given to the anemones?

Looks like the fish are smarter than I am....

The anemone just spit up the salmon today. I think the fish might have known the anem wasn't digesting it and they stayed out of it. Which explains why they looked unhappy and were acting funny.

Everything seems back to normal. I fed the anemone salmon with skin this time, whereas the time prior I had fed without skin. Apparently with skin is a bad idea...

I'm so impressed that these fish are so in tune with their symbiotic host. Such a cool relationship.

:)

edit to add: I think I might have imagined the eye thing. Maybe I hadn't really looked at the fish from that angle, I don't know. Looks ok now.
