the b/w clowns i got about a week or so ago has been acting strange. over the weekend they've grown these white spots on them and they don't swim around as much any more. 1 of them hangs out by the hydor flow every now and then and the other one is down by the substrate. any assistance or guidance would be greatly appriciated.

thanks.

sounds like ich :(
Ideally youd want to take them out of the display and put them in a container that you can treat them for it, with either copper or formalin, for a couple weeks then be put back in the display. FW dips for a couple minutes can be a big help for removing parasites before introducing no creatures to your display(as a preventative, NOT as a cure after the fact ).

Yes, time to set up a quarantine tank. Probably want to start them out with a freshwater dip and proceed onto a hyposalinity treatment or copper treatment. Be prepared to treat them in the q-tank for at least a month (longer is better) if you are really serious about "curing" them.

wow. that sux... i dont have much time to setup a qt tank nor the equipment. dangit. i did a fw dip on them when i got them. hummm... im going to have find something to setup this qt tank. as far as treatments, where would i pick up the required items. i do have some clout leftover from my fw stuff. would that work?

I have a half of a large bottle of ich medication that is reef safe. It worked for my purple tang even though I was told by many it wouldn't. Pm if you want to try it.

thier food? im feeding them frozen mysid and brine right now since they won't take the NLS pellets i have. can anyone suggest any different pellets?

You can soak "Formula One" flakes in garlic and feed it to them.

I would strongly recommend you get them out of there as soon as possible and put them in a QT tank with a bare bottom. This prevents the ICH eggs from reproducing. Otherwise it will likely continue to get worse.

Goodluck!

dangit... so would i be able to use the water from my tank since i don't have anything avail right now? or should i mix new water?

QT = easy and not that expensive.

All you need is 10g tank ($15), air stone or very small powerhead or regular powerhead with flow severly resticted (<$20), and a heater (<$20). Viola! Q-tank. Change water ~3 days or so (50% is good). To save water, fill tank only halfway. Feed sparingly.

Its a good idea to have these extra supplies on hand anyways. Good luck!

Oh start with old water in the Q-tank so you don't get "new tank syndrome" and then do water changes with new water. And it would help to have a couple of "decorations" or tubes in the tank for the fish to hide in.

looking better already

ok now im looking for some nessarius snails to turn over the sand bed... anyone knows which LFS has them in stock by chance?

:(
im so sad. my fishes didn't make it. i came home to a bunch of my nessarius snails on top of them. so sad... :() they were so darn pretty too.... and to make matters worse, my main lights died, something is wrong with the ballast or something since it won't turn on anymore and smells of something frying. im just so sad...

Wow, sorry for your loss. I'm with Xia, I always get depressed when I lose something. I think I should have done something. I had the same problem with my original 2 from ORA, they contracted brook and died. I had them in a QT tank and still lost them. I now have three pairs (hope to be able to breed and raise them someday). The three new pairs I have had for about three months now and they are growing fat and healthy. Do persevere, it is worth it.

Sorry Max. The same day I got you the meds for the ich, I got home and noticed velvet on my fish. I have lost 3 fish since and all of them being costly. A powder blue tang a pacific blue tang and an atlantic blue tang. It upsets me so much I almost want to quit the hobby. I hope you have better luck the next time and your corals and fish grow large and healthy.
