Help!? Desperate need of tanks. :((

Hi

A member of craigslist suggested I post here...

Here is my situation....

My husband is an avid fish guy, he had a custom tank that was about 300 gallons that "popped" He heard the sound and went to investigate. He noticed there was a small crack in the upper edge. He bent over to get the suction thing that he drains the tank with out from the drawer under the tank and the front of the tank burst into shards of glass coming down on his wrists like a guillotine. He severed the main arteries, tendons, nerves and will require extensive surgeries to repair. We are so thankful he is alive!!

We have been told he cannot work for the next 8-12 weeks, with him being the primary income, we are screwed financially.

The fish that were in this tank are massive, 18 inches is the smallest.

Does anyone have a tank, 55 gallon would prolly be the smallest that would work, that they just dont need or want?

Thank you in advance!
Denver, Colorado

You can see the broken tank here http://denver.craigslist.org/for/566967896.html

P.S. Thank you Vino Man for showing me the proper place to post this.

I am so sorry to hear about your misfortune. I hope your husband heals well and fast.

I wish I had something to help you but, other then good wish's and prayers I have nothing to offer except to be the first to tell you that the Local reef clubs D.A.R.C. and RMRC will come thru for you. I can assure you that within 24 hr's you will be amazed at the help that will come your way.

Believe me when I say that your fish problems will be over sooner then you can imagine.

Devote your time to the Hubby and Denver reefers will take care of the rest.

I might have missed it but, what part of the area do you live in and, was it salt water or fresh water?

Best of luck,

Hal

An 18" fish isn't going to fit in a 55G.

Also, as Hal asked, salt or fresh. Any coral?

My recomendation is a 100-150 gallon rubbermade tub, a kiddy pool, or some other large and cheap water holding solution.

Im sure others will chime in. If they don't I might be able to help you out with a pair of 55's. I would need them back in a few months once you guys get back on your feet and everybody is in one peice.

If anything, you can use them for a temporary solution tonight till you find a much better one. I probably couldnt bring them to you, some other reefers might be able to though.

who made the tank? the glass looks thin for the height. maybe the manufacturer will help? i have a couple small tanks but im not sure it will do? i agree with the 150 gal rubbermaid . im not sure where to get one but if someone knows they should chime in.

I've got an 80 gal. And a few smaller tanks. I would need them back as they are my backups for my main tank.

Just let me know, I can deliver as well.
