HELP!!! Faulty Tunze Osmolator??

Hi, now I've had the tunze osmolator for at least 4 months now. It has definitely been the best thing that I've bought from tunze by far. But anyway! this afternoon, I was awaken by the alarm from the osmolator that water was above the par. But the water kept pouring in! It didn't stop! So I had to switch it off myself! I think this is the 2nd time it's been this way. SO, what should I be doing? Clean the sensor? Or?

I'm going off for a holiday, and I really do NOT want an overflow in my tank.. >< any options??

Thanks,
Tim

Was water pouring in by a siphon or because the pump was actually running? In general what you describe should be impossible unless you have water siphoning from your reservoir to the sump because you are pumping down hill. The pump shuts off when it should but water keeps siphoning. To fix this you need to reroute the hose upwards to the tank or find a shorter reservoir.

It is heading upwards from a bucket under the tank... and the pump keeps running although it has already reached the sensor level. Does this mean that the sensor has malfunctioned???

If even the safety alarm does not shut it off, which is an independent circuit, there is something more seriously wrong than just the sensor, it could be a strong magnetic field near the controller from a ballast or magnet. If the safety alarm does shut it off, it is either the sensor or the condensor that builds up the power for the sensor.

SO what do you reckon I should do? Search for any magnetic thing around? Well actually you might be right... It's next to my koralia nano.. and there's magnets next to it.. Or should I clean the sensor too?

I would try both but typically a dirty sensor prevents the pump from ever coming on so I think a magnet is the most likely culprit, a magnet holder with a foot of the controller will be a likely cause as will any sort of ballast, even plugged into the same outlet, for example if this issue coincides with a light coming on, that is the first thing I would check.
