Help figuring out how many gallons my Marineland Half Moon fish tank is

I recently purchased what was described as a 40g bow front, rimless fish tank and stand for $80 off of OfferUp. Bought 25 lb of live rock and a Reef Octopus BH100F from LFS. Anyways lol I have done ALOT of research on my tank because I have not been able to factually determine how many gallons exactly that it is. Even when I google the dimensions of my tank, nothing. I do know for a fact that it is a Marineland Half Moon fish tank. But their website only shows either a 20g or 30g Half Moon tank, and offers absolutely zero dimensions for either tank. The dimensions of my tank are 26.5" from left to right x 13.5" from front to back x 26.5 from bottom to top (for lack of better description lol).

Is anyone familiar with this fish tank? Or has anyone either owned one or seen one before? Any advice or links to advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

There is about 231 cubic inches per a gallon so you have about 41 gallons of water. If you want a more accurate idea you could calculate the cubic inches taking the bowed frunt into account or even just fill the tank up a few gallons at a time and count it out to figure it out.

Yea, I know that it is roughly 41 gallons. My frustration is that I can't find ANY information on the tank that sits in my living room. Not on Marinelands website or any Google searches whatsoever. Normally, you could type in the dimensions of the tank at the very least, and get some type of hit/information regarding it. But not with this tank. My main question is if anyone is familiar with this specific tank.

Thanks for your reply and your time tho!

Is 13.5" including the bow or is that measured at the side of the tank not including the bow..
Marineland also has a 38G bow front..

But really.. who cares.. Are you trying to make a family tree for your tank or something :p
Or for what reason do you really need to know something about it

You can either fill it with known incriments or simply calculate it. Measure the radius of the curved face. The use the pi*r^2 formula for area now measure the angle the two sides are at of each other 90? If so that's .25 of the 360degrees in a circle so multiply your first result by that factor. If the rear of your tank dies not form a right triangle, meaning there is an agreed back corner, multiply its width*length*.5 and subtract this from your second answer, if not applicable skip this step. Now multiply your last answer by the height. This will give you your volume. Now simply convert the units to gallons, Google has a simple conversion calculator for this part.

But what I dont get is if you already realize its roughly 41g, then whay more are you after?

Based on post #3 they seem to be wanting to know more and already know how much it holds.. yet they title of this thread doesn't match that....
What else they want to know we don't know yet..

I need to know for peace of mind ok lol. And it's not a bow front. It's a half moon. The tank is basically a half cylinder. I originally tried to find out because I needed to know what kind of lighting to get for the depth of my tank. It's turned into an obsession I think lol I can't stand not knowing what I have, or being able to find it

Pi x 13.25 x 13.25 /2 = 275.6 sq" footprint

275.6 x 26.5" high = 7304.3 cubic inches

7304.3 cubic inches x 0.00434 gallons/cubic inch = 31.7 gallons +/-

Thanks mcgyvr! I am still confused though because when I plug the dimensions into a tank calculator, it says 41 gallons. And the second link you provided won't pull up anything for me [emoji19]

It shows you posted (after my post #10) but we don't see anything yet.. Likely the silly "jail" feature this board has that will jail your post that included an external link/photo until the moderators approve it and unjail it..

I just wanted to post that so you knew what was happening as the board doesn't inform people of that AFAIK..

So now we can get into the whole nominal vs actual discussion and if you keep it filled to the brim or perhaps 1in below.... [emoji14]

Yes I noticed it didn't show up also. But thank you so much for all of your help and advice! It's much appreciated!

..... plus actual water volume should be calculated based off inside rather than outside dimensions.

This morning, the choice would have been yours. Now, I made it for you.
