HELP!! Fish ingested purigen!!!

muppet

Misanthrope
I just changed my purigen sponge that sits on top of my center chamber (filled with live rock rubble) in my biocube 14. I rinsed it out with a spray of distilled water like always, then added it to the tank. Apparently I didn't rinse it well enough because fragments of purigen beads came firing out of my return and naturally my two true perc clowns thought it was feeding time all over again.

I don't *think* they ate much of it but they sure had a taste test.

Not sure what to do at this point but are they going to drop dead overnight?

I had a jawfish eat some once and he didn't seem to suffer any ill effects. Either way I don't think there's much you can do to help the fish.

I don't know if you are serious or not, muppet. Pump their what? Greenpeace? I am sorry, but I am sitting here laughing!

I think, or hope, they will be OK. It will just be ome more amusing story to tell at your next club meet. :)

Most importantly, how can I prevent this from recurring, aside from not using purigen?

Any filter sock that will fit the return on a BC14?

You probably saw them swallow the purigen but didn't notice that they spit it out. I really doubt they would eat it.
