BTW. I'm sure Jedi will be sympathetic... He lost a 90G? in his store last week or so when a seam broke and dumped the entire load into the store. I think that was just after he was sick as a dog for a number fo days. Talk about stress.... He handled it far better than I would have. So I guess it could have been worse.

yeah, i know. he's using my 120 that i was storing there until after christmas until the other tank is fixed.:lolspin:

hats off to ALL of you! (but, yeah, Roc has a special place in my heart) for the replies, the pm's....and the great info. yeah. i need to do something about that drain...i feel better after some rest...battered and pretty bruised...and i missed seeing her whacked out face when i woke up...but i think the real big issue now is the fall i took and the residuals. Seeing my doc at 3pm......ow...ow...ouch...owie...owie.....

Wow, sorry Kat. I HATE hearing of other people's disasters. It makes me want to put my 90 gallon tank inside of a 150 gallon tank as a catch net.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your loss...:sad2:

OMG, so sorry to hear, I would have been crying too. But sounds like you are feeling better now. I guess this could happen to anyone, so how can we prevent it?

I don't know what your overflow looks like, but if it has "teeth", you could try something like this:

IMG_0258.jpg

I had a clown that ended up in the overflow every morning until I put this guard on it. The upper side of the guard butted against the underside of the tank cover, so nothing could get through that sucker. It didn't affect the flow at all, as long as I remembered to clean it with a brush now and then.

WOW at Kat, Hey that's right you have my number. CALL me if something like this ever happens again. I've said it before in many other threads on tank drain lines, just because you have a 1 inch bulk head please don't use 1 inch main lines to the sump. all mine are 1.5 inch. just a little safety measure if they make it through the bulk head they won't get caught in the main line to the sump. Hope things are looking up for you sweetie. :fish1:

ahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahaha

thanks, greg...just i hate calling people at midnight...unless i really know they won't kill me for calling that late....:wildone: (but a HUGE thank you to those who pm'd and called me...no fun being alone when disaster strikes....)

i do think the hose line needs to be changed...and working on a two safety nets today. upshot is, cleaning out the sump, putting a light under there and hoping to get my hands on some chaeto (hint hint...anyone, bueller?) and shampooing the carpet again...so i'm busy...good distraction.

but miss Daphne my little cracked out fish something awful....:fish1:

Sorry for threadjacking...

and again sorry to hear about the whole incident

where did you get that "fencing" material????

Kat, I'll cut you a hunk of Chaeto if you can figure out an evening to stop by. I work until 5:00 the rest of this week. That stuff is available in any craft or sewing department. I got mine at Walmart. If you come for some Chaeto, I'll give you some of that too. The least I can do, since you were such a huge help on the day of the tank switch.

Looks like something you would using for sewing or embroidery or whatever its called. So you could probably buy it from JoAnn Fabrics or something similar.

Kat, sorry to hear about the disaster!! :( Just curious, what didn't the hawk make it down to the sump?? My previous jawfish took many rides down the water slide right into my filter sock. My hawk was always in my overflow (never made it to the sump cause there's a cage on the pipe) until I did something similar to Ellie. Those hawkfish are always so damn curious!!! There like cats!! :)

think the hose is too small. she grabbed on just at the end and wouldn't let go...even with airline in the overflow...
