Help - I Crushed My Clam!!!!!!!!!

I was moving a very large rock in my tank and the top portion I was holding broke off in my hand. Needless to say the only thing below the rock was my gorgeous blue Maxima clam. One of the sides is crushed pretty well, but I went to try and open the shell (just to see if he was alove) and he tightly closed. Is there anything that I can do to save him? Can clams recover on their own from events like this? Or is something like this certain death? And, if so, should I just remove him from the tank? I am really depressed that this happened, but what can I do to help him recover.

look down for a post by jim norris.

about two weeks ago he posted re:using super glue to repair his prized dursea

Glad to hear that Jim.
I have a 7" dursea that we got at about 4" and I can only imagine the feeling of hearing him smash.

Hurrifan Hope all works out well !

Marc.

Jim, I think it is a little bit of both. I will try to post pics tonight. I saw hermits picking at him last night so I moved into a 30 gallon rubber maid tub with a single 175W MH over it. One side is definitely crakced and he is leaning over on a 45 degree angle (as opposed to the typical 90). I dont really see to much to glue. Keeping my fingers crossed...
