like it says.. i got stung..and there is bristles sticking out of my finger. anyone know the least hurtful way to get them out or what to do??

Marine bristle worms
Marine bristle worms (Polychaeta), particularly the fire worm, have tiny bristles that cause fierce skin irritation and inflammation.

Treatment:

* Remove the bristles from the skin by sticking adhesive tape onto the affected area. Pull the tape off with a quick jerk.
* Immerse the affected area in a bowl or basin filled with hot water for symptomatic relief.

THIS IS FROM GOOGLE I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE.

i got stung by one and just pulled out the britle and put some alcohol on it. Hurt for a few but more than anything is just scared the hell outta me

Same experience. I just pulled mine out. It got irritated and that's the end of it. You have nothing to worry about. If you notice you're having an allergic reaction then goto the hospital.

Not uncommon for fingers to swell uncomfortably for a few days. Ice, after a day of hot water, will help that. Wear non-powdered surgical gloves when you have to mess with the rocks: you can get them at the supermarket. The worm probably isn't too happy about the encounter, either---our skin hooks their bristles like crazy. Gloves are kinder for both you and the worms.

Anyone who has gotten zoo frags from me knows how much I ***** and moan about getting bristles stuck in my fingers from that. My bristle worms for whatever reason live in the bottom of my zoo colonies in my nano, and whenever I move the colonies or w/e, I always get a ton of bristles in my finger.

I've learned to stop at first sign of bristle worm, and if I do get some stuck in my finger, I use tweezers or whatever clamping instrument is within grasp. I look into a light with my finger in front of the light so it lights up the protrusion, then just pick it out. I hate bristleworms.

ok, the all time best way to get rid of bristle worm bristles is to place your finger or whatever in some vinegar. no pain, pulling, touching or anything and they are dissolved away! trust me on this, working at a LFS sucks when you get new uncured live rock in that is covered with bristleworms.

ive picked up liverock before and got pricked/splinters quite a bit. so thats what that was!

that vinegar idea sounds like a great idea, will give it a shot when the need arises :)

Vinegar works for me as well, although amputation does seem like a viable option when you get hit bad. No need to panic unless you start haveing severe reaction, like MAJOR swelling or any difficulty breathing, in which case you need a doctor, but judging by the fact that this was posted yesterday Im thinking you either got it solved, went to a doctor, or you "final words" are what was typed above as you where going into anaphalytic shock...... lets hope thats not it:)

I have another method..
When I worked at an aquarium store many years ago, when I'd get them stuck in me, I would use PVC glue to get them out. Just put some rain or shine pvc glue on the area, let it dry, and peel it off.
