Help!!! I Think I dosed Too Much Sugar!!!

My system is a total of 100g and last night (in an attempt to rid my hair algae) added two tablespoons of sugar. My tank was a little cloudy this morning but is extremely cloudy tonight. My skimmer is skimming like crazy as it should, Is there anything I need to do???

That's wierd, it seems like that isn't an overdose. Anyways, do a large water change and run some active carbon, I would hurry too.

That seems like a lot of sugar! I have a system that's exactly the same size and I opted for vodka instead of sugar, but I am only dosing 0.3 mL per day to start with

Your biggest concern is going to be oxygen depletion. Up the bubbles in your skimmer and if you have a air pump use it.

I don't have any RO/DI to do a W/C with and won't be able to get any until tomorrow night.

I didn't think about the O2 depletion thinks for reminding me!!! I moved my two Korallia 4s close to the surface and upped the bubbles in my skimmer. Thanks Again!!!

Should I start Over skimming???

I would skim very wet. Basically you have a massive bacteria bloom. When all the sugar is used up, your gonna have a bacteria die off. i don't dose carbon sources anymore, but this is what I gathered from everything I read before/while i was dosing. I could be wrong about the die off, so you might want to wait for a second opinion. good luck to you!

ya you had an bacterial bloom it sounds like. i have a 90 gall and i only dose about 1/2 tsp every other day. Should have researched it a bit more.

I would do a water 20% water change asap. It should eventually clear up.
