ok so i am very new at this. My boyfriend has a 180g tank very beautiful. we got a clam in like july 06 everything has been good with it and all the test that we have done on the tank have been on point and the specific gravity is 1.022. but our clam has hole is a lot bigger than it was when we got it and it also has red slim algae in the hole. and on the side of the clams shell is something growing off of it we are not sure whats going on
we are going to post some pics as soon as he opens back up we moved him so he closed a little . so sit tight and we will post those pictures as soon as we can
Later and thank you

your SG should be up around 1.024 - 1.026 for clams and most other invertebrates. can you post the rest of your water parameters when you post the pics?

Test Results:

PH: 8.2

NO2: 0.1

NO3: 0.05

NO3: 0.25

can you clarify your test results. you posted the same thing twice with different results.

can you describe your tank more, how long has it been up? how much live rock? what other filtration do you use? lighting? list every thing including fish and what and how often you feed.

that hole i cant tell from here but its either mouth or end. no worry. it will open and close all the time depending on its surrounding. dont worry. cant see any algae from there either.

doesnt look like anything to worry

it looks to be crocea ( hard to tell pics not the best, maybe turn off your pumps ) and they are known to have looser than normal mantle's and incurrent siphons.

do you test for alk and Ca? if not you should be.

are you dosing anything to maintain alk and Ca?

as mbbuna said could you fill us in on some details about the tank
