help ich!!

The only problem with letting your tank sit with ich is that you know it is there and everytime you put a fish in you are subjecting a new fish to a known disease out of your laziness. If you swap frags or anything else you can spread it on, yes they should QT but you also should be a responsible reefer.

thats why we dip corals :spin3:

lol laziness; theres that word again. Any exchanges i make i let ppl know what is going on with my system. im an open book :beachbum:

Might I add that the removed fish will have to be treated in a separate quarantine tank. Usually by hypo salinity or copper. I usually go hypo which means you lower the salinity to 1.008 and should last around at least 4 weeks. Even if the fish are spotless, you need to continue the hypo for 4 weeks to break the cycle. Remember to bring up the salinity up slowly over a period of days.

Fish and inverts can survive in 1.008sg water for 4 weeks?

Except dipping won't address Crypt if it's in cyst form on the frag plug, rock or skeleton....to be completely thorough, you should QT corals and inverts as well for at least two weeks.

I use a combination of copper, malachite green, ...can't recall the name, it's not allowed in california (carcinogerous) ... and hyposalinity at 1.014-1.016Gotta use less dosage than recommended for each of the three medications.
I do daily water changes for a week (in a separate tank of course) with water taken from main display + fresh water to bring down salinity. Usually first results (white dots disappearing) in 2-3 days. AFter none week, I gradually increase salinity to bring it closer to that of main tank ... .002 daily at most. I use an UV on return line constantly, also helps with water clarity.
Usually ich shows up when fish are stressed ... gotta give them ample room to swim and no agressive tankmates.... my 0.02.

Sorry, but after QTing two tube anemones for 4 weeks I figured I was good. Introduced them into their new home and boom, ich. Now I have ot figure out how to treat the fish that have it, as well as the fish that is currently in QT.
