im 100% sure that thats a blue crab catch em at my aunts house out in new jersy all the time their amazing little snacks hahaha
 
were i got him?? i have NO IDEA. was looken around my tank and here he was sitting looking right at me. im not gonna lie it freaked me out. i was like " what in the hell are you"!! screamen for my ol lady to come and see it.

but hey thanks for the info

I agree, blue crabs are portunids.

Caught one in Florida and kept it in a tank by himself for about two years. Neat as heck in a species tank with a little live rock. It's a conversation starter. Places that serve stuffed crab usually serve it in one of their shells. The meat is delicious! The claws are powerful though an I wouldn't leave it in a reef tank. I used to feed mine big chunks of fish. LOL He'd eat anything...
 
We used to catch them as kids back in RI, filled a 5 gal bucket in our small row boat, bucket tipped over and all 3 of us jumped in the water, watch ou!!! Bad claws if it gets you your gonna have to rip his claw off, I still got scars.
