This skimmer came with my 135 but has no name just a sticker that says korea reef club

Only thing on it is REEF CLUB korea reef comunity in two places. It was inside the sump not external. Need to figure out how to connect it. If anyone has one close to this design how theirs is connected would help. Looks like an inlet pipe, the other 2 on the side are connected via the pump like a recirc setup? Way different than the one in my 40br reef w 20 sump/fuge

Looks internal to me. Toss it in your sump and plug it in. The red valve looks to be for fine tuning. The grey tube on the left is the exit. Looks like a recirculating pump.

The old owner said the return pump was "T'd" into this for water supply. Does this sound correct for this style?

that is an external skimmer. a few things i am not sure about with but it will be east to walk you through it. will have to make a few changes though.

remove all the sections where it says feed pump and just leave the union and connect a line to your feed pump to the union.

also above the T run a pipe to the top of the skimmer cup, then you adjust the water level in the skimmer with the ball valve. from the T add PVC back to your sump, that is the drain.

actually a gate valve would be a better option to get better precesion on tuning the skimmer in

If its water tight it looks like it can be used externally. It does look like it needs to be fed through the ball valve. My guess is he meant he fed the skimmer with a T off the overflow or return line. No way to know what the gph through there should be.

It is recirculating...so it can be internal or external, the pump appears to be a Sedra and it also looks like it was plumbed to the overflow. The red valve was to tune the waterflow into the skimmer, which means it was split off the return. It was set up correctly and should work just fine.

So do I feed te skimmer with a t from my return or sould I get another pump

Do you agree with shifty as to everything he drew in or other suggestions?

What he is suggesting will work just fine and is how most recircs are set up.

You can feed it either way, the purpose of feeding it directly from the overflow is to get the most concentrated water into the skimmer, if you use a feed pump you lose that unless you are creative. If you place the feed pump where the overflow comes into the sump you will still be getting raw water into the skimmer.

I'm new at this but I think it makes better since to fed from overflow than with water that. Has bypassed the skimmer in the sump already?

One thing...don't even try the ball valve, go straight to the gate valve, you will go nuts trying to control the water level with a ball valve, they don't do fine tuning very well.

Since you already have everything on the skimmer end to plumb for overflow water, I would probably do that, but there is nothing wrong with a small feed pump.
