I have a very interesting problem going on in my tank. Here is the background. Two months ago I upgraded my 180 to a custom 7ft 210g. transferred all fish, rock and coral with no incident (new sand). Fish included multiple tangs, emperor angel, damsels, clowns and a few wrasses.

Last week I added a queen angel and she was eating well and getting fatter. no issues. Yesterday morning before i left for work i fed the fish including the queen and she looked perfectly healthy eating as normal. I came home and found her like this:

It was only on her left side, right side was completely normal. Unfortunately, this morning i found her dead on the sand.

Now for the interesting part. I have tried to add a potters angel and a flame angel and both have died in the same exact manner. eating fine for about a week then one day they look like that and i find them dead within a day. None of my existing fish from the transfer have died including the emperor angel and I have added other tangs, wrasses, blennies etc and they are all fine. Also, angels were not all purchased from same vendor.

I do not QT, others may disagree and thats fine I am willing to live with the risks.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

Unfortunately that is a risk to all your fish and i think you are seeing what happens when you don't QT ..
Sorry for all your lost angels but by simply not QTing and observing them you have multiple problems that can come up

I can't see the pics, sorry for your losses. Maybe your emperor doesnt want to share his tank with another angel.

It's hard to tell from the pictures, but judging from the fact that
1) they weren't quarantined
2) The illness did not spread to your other fish
3) All angels

I'm thinking flukes. Angels are very susceptible and when an infestation takes hold, the fish looks cloudy and ragged like that. If you look closely, you would even be able to see the little transparent flatworms all over the fish. The queen was also quite thin, I'm sure that didn't help. Did you see her flashing, twitching, shaking her head, or any other abnormal behavior before she passed?

no flashing or twitching, even that morning she looked 100% normal. Should I just prazi pro the whole display to be safe?
