Can anyone identify this fish for me

Looks like a Thalassoma wrasse, possibly T. genivittatum.

Thalassoma yes, but I'm really unsure on the species here. I'll go with your guess over mine.

Eventually yes, but it will also be quite large and boisterous, just like all Thalassoma are. Well suited for a large, semi-aggressive swim tank, but not so much for a reef tank.
