I'm just curious as to what the group thinks this anemone is...

I've been told a BTA...but I'm not convinced...

it looks like a bta, but a very, very sick one. its lost its zoolanthae due to stress or sickness and if you want it to live you will have to hand feed it tiny amounts of seafood protein-- slivers of silversides or mysis shrimp, as often as 2 times a day for a week or two, then at least three times a week... if it makes it that long.
any anemone that's white is very ill...

again...the photographs were taken with a cell phone camera and aren't the best...it's actually a limeish green color with pink/purple tips...it may be unhealthy but i fed it a piece of shrimp tonight and it seems to do better when it eats...it hasn't moved in a few months and i believe it gets enough light; my lighting system did crash recently and i'm forced to run one 12K bulb at the moment until i get a new system...does it need more light? should i try to move it closer to the top of the tank?

it's a 55 gallon....and I'm down to 1 t5 HO 12K bulb...but am going to retro a new system...probably with MH

its about...18" from the only bulb that works.... :(

yeh not enough light. i would continue to feed it, try to get the new lights up. if you move the rock you might disturb the nem and stress it.

alright....but for the meantime....feed it how often? and i believe it'll be ok with the current set up....but it won't improve right??

atleast 2-3 times a week, i have heard of people soaking the food in selcon then feeding it to the nem. it prolly wolnt improve on just the one light bulb it would need a minimum of 2 t5ho with individual refectors to even have a chance. i understand you are prolly in a bind with the light at this moment of time. but it would be benificial to figure out the lighting as soon as possible.

Now the guy up and decided to start moving around the tank...here's an updated photo from December 5, 2009. Still improving I do believe...and I'm feeding mysis now as well..

Sadly at 6 am, I awoke to find my anemone had released his foot and was sucked into a powerhead! :(

The sad thing is...I had been making such progress with it and it's all for naught! :(

So now I don't have one...but have a Tomato with a HUGE popeye (just one so I think it's fighting) and another Tomato that's mean....should I get another nem or just wait...and if I should, what should I get?

Thanks,

dB
