Chalk this up as a lesson.
Follow proper QT procedures Brah.
I agree with the above post on how to cure ich... I also think you can do hypo in your DT. But really watch ammonia and water changes every 3 days or so.. Or at least have water ready..
I am going to add this..... With your Lack of Experience with a Marine tank... You should Take those tangs back to the Pet store and trade them in (once cured) For fish that can survive well in a newly non established tank Cared for by a New Tank owner...
You or your tank is not ready for such species ... I still partially blame the LFS That sold them to you....But most of the blame goes on your...Hippo tangs need a super stable and Established tank.. There is NO other way to say it but.. That fish likely hood of surviving is Close to 0...
With that wish you the BEST OF LUCK... And i do HOPE YOU BEAT THE ODDS.

If you want to do a hypo treatment then the salinity must be maintained at 1.008-1.009.
[emoji3] did not mean to sound so mean . just no more impulse buying please.we have all been thereThanks
Clearly this is my fault...I knew better. I Did a lot of research before starting this and wasn't planing on having any tangs for at least a year, but I used my daughter as an excuse to be ignorant!
Lot of lessons in a short amount of time. But I cured the tang for now and have yet to lose a fish and don't plan on it. I've stocked up with 600G of salt in case I lose my bio equalibrium during hypo.
Didn't mean to stack the odds against me, as I only have one type of luck and it ain't good! Lol
Fish look awesome right now and all getting along, I'll start hypo tomorrow morning.

Tell me about it! Lol. That was the plan but made a bad decision.
I'm not at work now so a little follow up.
It is crucial to maintain the salinity at the 1.009 any higher and the possibility of it working goes down. You should maintain the salinity until the last spot has been seen plus 4 weeks for best results. Keep an eye on your chemistry at the lower salinity pH can become an issue.
An auto top off IMO is vital for success at maintaining the salinity. Also be aware that there is evidence that some strains of ich are resistant to hypo. There is a sticky that discusses hypo in the fish disease forum. Good luck
I would like to add a couple more fish...do you think I should wait till after I hypo my DT or do it now, thus preventing a future ich miss hap?
If i reset the tank, can I put the rock and sand out side to freeze...that will kill ich?I am truly sorry for your pain. There is no substitute for going fallow, other than restarting your tank. That is more work than letting an established, cycled tank go fallow.
What you need to do now is get all the fish out of your DT and into a TTM protocol then QT. The rest of your tank's inhabitants can stay in the DT while you ghost feed the tank for a minimum of 72 days. Feed them a small amount of flakes every other day or so.
After that, you need to be sure you QT every new arrival.
Ich requires the presence of fish to complete its life cycle, there is more info in the sticky at the top of this forum.
