HELP!! IMPORTANT!! How do I keep fish in a brand new BRUTE

Just went to feed my fish and my tank is leaking. It is coming from the top of the stand and water is coming from the bottom of the tank. I have seen this happen on one of my hospital tanks and it was drained in a matter of hours. This is my display and is over carpet. I need to drain asap.

I have two BRUTE trash cans I just bought from home depot. Thankfully were still open. Do I transfer Rocks and livestock with a heater and powerhead to the two trash cans? Do I need to add prime tomorrow?

I am very confused where to start. Anyone that has any ideas or has had a tank leak before do you have any advice??

Move as much water , live rock as you can to the brutes. Move over heater/ powerhead. I've kept fish /rock in rubbermaid tubs for several weeks with just a heater and powerhead.

Aeration, most you can WITHOUT getting the fish and bubbles to meet. Hook your skimmer up even if it feeds back into the brute.

Thank you for all the help everyone. I have them in both brutes and a heater/powerhead/ airbubbler in each with all the liverock now. I also dropped in a bag of carbon because I think carbon will get rid of the rubber odor for the fish?

I am guessing the sand is not something most people save. Kinda sad for the critters inside. Also concerned about feeding these guys while inside the trashcan.

Good luck, hope it all works out. I had to do the same. I put my coral and fish in a Rubbermaid tub with the live rock for a couple weeks while my new tank and lights were put together. They all survived even without lights. Some of the corals got smaller but they grew back bigger in the new tank.

I'm sorry to hear of this malfunction. I'm curious, if you don't mind saying, what brand of tank do you have? Age? And size?

Good luck with everything.

Sorry to hear about this, but the good news is you can go to Petco and buy up to a 55gal for a $ per gal. Agree all you need is the heater and powerhead.

Thanks everyone.
Did you guys keep the tops on the trash cans? Its too high for them to jump but they are not getting any light. I know it is keeping the water from evaporating. Do I just need to top off daily?

The brand was Fluval. It was a 30 gallon and only about 7-8 months old. Even when I used a mag float to scrape away algae I could see the silicon on the sides flaking away. Very poor quality. I will not buy Fluval product again. I will post some pictures for you guys soon.

Yeah, they are only about halfway full so I will leave it off. I was worried about topping off with ro water since there is only one powerhead in there.
