Help! Injured Lobo.

i received this lovely piece of rainbow lobo today. It came very well packed and the shipping container showed no damage. When I was aclimating the piece I noticed that part of its skeleton was damaged. After placing it in my sandbed it started to open but the tissue started to tear because of the break. It has worsen through out the day. I am unsure whether to cut off the damaged tissue, leave it be or what. I am afraid that this could lead to a bacterial infection as well. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed.

I've tried to cut off damaged tissue before, but just it seemed to kill the coral faster. As long as it isnt turning rotten looking at the wound it will grow back and there are no worries. otherwise, you'll need some further advise.

It should be okay, just keep an eye on any encroaching nuicant algae so it doenst settle on the skeleton, and just keep it as clean as possible. In the future you may want to consider using an iodine dip prior to placing it in your tank, this will help fight against infection. If it still looks like an open deteriorating wound after a couple days you still may want to consider it. But like I said just keep your tanks conditions as optimal and clean as possible for the next week and you should be ok.
