Help! Is this a fungus on my zoas?

I noticed this weird brown slime on two of my smaller zoa frags. At first I thought it was the zoo mat spreading, but this particular zoa does not have a mat.

I noticed something similar on some colonies I had in the past that did not survive, however, at the time I thought their lack of survival was my fault, since it was during a period of time in which I was unable to take care of the tank for personal reasons.

I had some really nice pieces that I lost last year, and now that I am back full throttle, I do not want to lose anymore. Does anyone know:

what is this?
what should I do?
how do I get rid of it?

Notice in this last picture, it is kind of webbing in between the small branches of the rock?

I have not experienced or saw anything like that. I don't know about fungus. Some kind of bacteria maybe? Just curious, do they still open?

see if you can get it off, put some tank water in a bowl and blast it with a turkey baster. hard to tell from pic but could be a sponge

my buddy had that stuff all over a colony of pink zoas. they wouldnt open for like two weeks.

he put the colony in the sun (on a papaer towel on a windowsill) for 30min a day for 3 days.

that stuff dried up and flaked off, polyps open in less then a week, brighter than ever.

thats all i know

It is like a slimy film, but it doesn't come off easily. It has elasticity to it. I have to actually scrape it off, and even then its not a sure thing.

I'll try the sun experiment in the windowsill, see if it works.

its like an artificial low tide, that suff should dry up, and flake off.

I tried the windowsill technique but I think I made it worse. The zoos don't seem to be opening now.

As for the sponge/fungus. It seems to have halted. I looked around the tank some more, and I noticed that in some areas where there is little light, mostly in the cracks, this stuff appears to be popping up. It must be some sort of sponge. I'll try to get good pictures later.

If its sponge, air should kill it, or a fresh water dip.

I've never tried the windowsill treatment... I would do a nice dip in whatever iodine dip you've got... TMPCC or Sechem's Reef Dip... Looks like a fungus to me... Oh, you might try Furan 2 if the dip doesn't work...
