Help lost all sps!

The tank had a hair algae problem I helped break the tank down I brought it home scraped the glass with a razor blade rinsed it with the water hose let it air dry and then set it up

The Alk dropped to 6.76 for some reason after the move I dosed bionic daily till everything balanced out took prob 5-6 days

Earlier this year i switched from a 16gal to a 29gal and almost all of my corals died. I used everything from the previous tank. I tested and i noticed i had .5ppm of both ammonia and nitrite. It only lasted about four days but i still lost almost all of them. Mine werent even sps. The corals that i lost were some zoas, zenias, and a bubble tip anemone. My candycane coral the only one to make it. Seeing as how mine didnt last but four days maybe yours did the same, possibly even faster before you could even notice there was a problem. Just sharing my experience. Sorry for the losses

When I move tanks, I put as much equipment for the new tank in my running tank for a few weeks. This way when I transfer it all over there is more bacteria covered surface. I do the same with rock etc

I've had zero sps loss due to this. I don't know if it works, but I've had zero loss 3 times this year.

it doesn't make sense when you change over its like you do a big water change and that's not going to kill all yours corals. The new tank must have some chemical residue or something else leak out from the new sand you put in. If you think about it when you mix the new water it should be clean and zero on amonia nitrite nitrate and phosphate if you mix it with RODI. Even if you have a little bit of phosphate it will not kill all yours corals. At most it might lose color or not open but if everything die then it has to be some type of chemical reaction from else where. I worked for a fish store before and somebody put something in the display tank and within 4hrs everything die from fish to corals.

Right, I don't see a chnage being the issue. You bring frags home from the store and there is rarely an issue.

In my experience, I get STN when there is a rapid chnage in water chemistry. I.e after a water change, the water in the tank is different than the sump and it pumps a saltier water in.
