Help - M. Idol cloudy eyes

I have a Moorish Idol purchased from another RC person that he had for several years.

The fish has been in QT w/ a yellow tang and a flame hawkfish for the past 5-6 weeks.

The flame was bought from a LFS, and did cause an ich outbreak 5 weeks ago, that has been cleared up for at least 3-4 weeks.

The last few days I noticed the Idol's eyes were a little cloudy, but he was acting/ eating fine.

This am they are very cloudy, much much worse than yesterday.

Any ideas what it is and what I should do?

Cloudy eyes can be caused by various things; water quality, abrasions/eye trauma, secondary bacterial infections. Given that you had ich, my guess would be the latter. What did you do to treat the ich?

I would just add that flame hawkfish have been coming in recently covered with Neobenedinia flukes - which can cause cloudy eyes as well. I understand that its the idol that has the cloudy eye, but fish may have these flukes and NOT show clloudy eyes, so your flame could have infected it. If you haven't treated the tank with Praziquantel, you might keep flukes in the back of your mind as a possibility.

Treated the ich w/ fresh water dip w/ paraguard, followed by cupramine and hyposalinity at 10.10 for 2 weeks, - cleared up nicely.

I'm at work now, but will see if I have anything for flukes at home.

I'm pretty good w/ ich treatment, but never had flukes before ( if now) what else should I look for.

This am I separated out the hawk and tang from the Idol into separate QT tanks - how much longer do I keep them in QT.

Thanks for the help.
