Help me breed my banggais

Well I've decided to try my hand at breeding Banggai cardinalfish and I have seen that these would be the easiest to breed. Two days ago I bought five banggais from my lfs and they are all doing well. How long does it take for them to pair up and how can you tell if they are paired???

Ok we'll 2 of them are males but the other three wont stop moving. I used the vent method. Don't they kinda pair up by themselves?

if you have 5, you will end up with 2. be sure to only have a male and female, as they are not well kept in groups. for breeding you need to feed alot.

Yes, using the vent method I found that two are males but the other three wont stop moving and is hard to tell.

So you find a male and female and catch them and put them In a jar, right? How big of a jar and for how long do you keep them in it.

as long as you have a big tank with lots of hiding spaces and seperated areas, this is true. in a smaller tank usually used for breeding, you wont have that. getting a pair for that will save you fishes, as they have a pecking order that will kill or stress the weakest. also that makes less predators for your offspring and less competition for feeding, which you will have to do alot to get babies, otherwise the males will eat them...

Cool I'm sorry to say that one of my Banggai died it because it got sucked into a power head and its first top fin came off. I found him this morning and he is just sitting in one spot not moving but he does every now and then. Do you think there is any chance of survival or anything I could do?

Oh I just saw it move to the opposite side of the tank near the top so their may be some hope.

Well I'm sorry to say the one Banggai died yesterday but today I do have good news. I think two of the four banggais paired up because they are swimming close together where the other ones are staying on opposite side of the tank. I'm pretty sure the four banggais that ate left are 3 males and just the one female.
