help me choose a new skimmer

I currently have a Jebo that is peice of crap and I have about $200 dollars to spend on a skimmer.

so far I'm loooking at:

I have heard good things about the corralife but not much on the octopus
the skimmer will be in the sump

the ASM looks just like the Jebo I have I can't teel if it comes with a pump or not, if it comes with a pump is it a needle wheel or venturi?

They come with needle wheel sedra pumps.

I think th G-2 would be great for you. $217.00 comes with Sedra 3500 NW pump. You will regret skimping on your skimmer. Definetly one area to invest a little more money in.

to get within my price range I would have to get the smaller model that is rated pretty low for my tank.

how do they rate these?
do they measure the protiens removed? or the amount of skimate or maybe some other way?

Protein skimmer efficientcies vary based on your bio-load. More fish equals less eficient skimming. But as I said earlier, the skimmers you linked to are not built as well as the ASM. Another great feature with ASM is upgradeability (is that even a word?). If it isn't performing optimally you can add a riser, a big pump, or a recirculaion mod. This is the route I would take.
