Help me choose the correct anemone

Hello everyone. I have had a pair of ocellaris clowns for two years now and was thinking about picking up an anemone for them.

From what I have been reading there are not all that many anemones that they will host in, my research has reported hosting in , bubble tips, ritteri, and carpets... so what should I get, I like them all, so with that out of the way, what do you think?

E. Quadricolor, H. Magnifica, or S. Gigantea

Thanks,
Rob

The first one will be the best choice if its ur first anemone although its not their natural host.the Gigantea and ritteri(Magnifica) are natural host for ocellaris. But they're harder to keep.

IMO you should stay away from Ritteris (H. magnifica) unless you're very experienced with anemones and want to try it.

Bta's (E. quadricolor) would be your best bet since they are the "easist" of the host anemones to keep.

Carpets are also hard to keep. S. gigantea is harder to keep than S. haddoni.

I have a pair of Ocellaris that host my gbta. It took them 6 months to start hosting but they host it. Don't be discouraged if they don't host right away. They could host the day you get it or like in my case it could take months. It's up to the individual clownfish.

If this is going into your 120 gallon, I would go with a bta to start out with and once you have some experience with keeping an anemone you could go for a haddoni.

i know ritteri need specific setups for them to recreate flow patterns and lighting needs. plus i believe they are poor shippers as well.

gigantea are poor shippers??

i have observed ocellaris clowns hosting in haddoni carpet anemones before so that is a viable option along with a BTA.

What makes Ritteri and Giant Carpets so difficult to keep?

Mostly it is hard to find a healthy specimen. Adding insult to injury, they are harder to nurse back to health than other anemones.
