I keep changing my mind..I want clowns that I know will move into my H. Crispa as soon as I introduce clown to the tank. Before I get these new clowns I am selling my pair of ocellaris.

I really like the look of a A. chrysopterus (orange fin) books say they are semi aggressive and people on here say they are extremely aggressive and prone to brook. I still very much like these clowns they are beautiful.
Then I am thinking about getting a pair of A. Clarkii's but only if they are black, white and bright yellow. People on here say Clarkii are really mean to tank mates as well. I think also..god forbid if anything happens to my H. Crispa.. These clowns aren't picky about their anemones and will accept any new anemone I put in my tank. My husband doesn't like the fact that these clowns get so big. ..Sigh..
I really like the A. Sandaracinos( orange skunk) but will they help me feed their anemone? I have a pair of pink skunks in a different tank and they won't help feed the PLTA.
I need a clown that will help feed the anemone because its a pain in my back to reach down in my tall 120 gallon to spot feed the H. Crispa.

So right now I'm like..orange fin, no clarkiis, no orange skunk..no
My husband will not give me an opinion other than he doesn't like that those orange fin and clarkiis are big fish:p what a brat:lol:

no clownfish intentionally helps feed their host.

chyros-get to be about the size of clarks and have the same demeaner

clarks arent always mean just when they want to bred atleast thats my experience.

orange skunks-have a better size, ive found it hard to find healthy ones though.

i like pink skunks myself plus i think theyll host crispa.

what kind of tank mates do you have?

GSM's will host anything fast... But they can be kinda mean to tank mates...

6 blue/green chromis had them for over a year
1 coral beauty angel
1 juvi arc eye hawkfish< if this one keeps behaving itself it will stay My skunk cleaner shrimp clean the hawk often.

The only problem I have with adding new fish is that hawk. I worry he might pick on them. That is why I'm leaning twards the clarkiis and chrysops because they will be able to put that hawk in its place. Maybe I'll take the hawk out and put it in the 24 gallon for a while so it will be the new guy again.

Just bumping this thread. I would like to make this decision soon so I can get my QT ready. I have been using my QT for corals and my rock anemone so I wouldn't look at an empty tank. I know I won't be using it for that after I have to medicate fish in there.

I wish I had better advice for you! I just don't have any experience with any of those clowns... Sorry Christina!

I did send you a PM about your Sebae - hope it's doing well - mine's causing me all kinds of stress again! Moved again yesterday afternoon. I think I really upset it changing the aquascaping - must have messed up it's flow or something... it is darkening though - so that's good!

Oh sorry I didn't see that pm. My sebae is doing alright I guess. I think it will be doing a lot better if I can get some clowns to move in. I have read in a few books saying that in the absent of fish tentacles of this anemone tend to shorten. I think it will also help it settle in. I can see that it is still sticky, I see its foot stick to the rock then detach. Its verrucae is still sticking to the rocks every once in a while. It is just not finding a place where it wants to stay. Hopefully it will be ok with out a clown for another month while I have the fish in the QT. First I need to figure out which ones I want.:p

Ok Christina - you may not want to hear this LOL! But mine is doing the exact same thing... And it's had clowns hosting it since the day after it went into the tank... I know many people say clowns help - but I almost wonder if they stop it from attaching? I guess I only say this because anytime mine un attaches itself to move - my clowns don't just get out and wait until it's settled back in - you know? So they just fluff around in it and spin it a bit... Anyway... Just throwing that out there. Hopefully ours will both settle down soon.

I find it interesting that between the 2 of us - we have 3 Sebaes who are all taking the same amount of time to fully settle in... Makes me wonder if this is at all normal? Or if we just have BAD luck?!

Mine does the same thing as yours - foot sticks to the rock - then detaches... or it's verrecue sticks to the rocks for a while.. it doesn't just flop around the tank - stays pretty much in the same spot (except for every once in a while) but foot isn't 'attached' like I'm expecting...

Well, I am going to give it a try anyways.
Has anyone had an orange skunk accept a bta or lta as a host? I have seen pictures of a orange skunk in a haddoni.

Oh it's totally worth a try! I didn't mean to say that... I just think it's so odd we're both having these problems.

I like the black saddleback clowns.

A. Polymnus? Aren't they known to be a bit rough with their anemones? As in, they like to dive into the mouth of the anemone? I could be thinking of some other clown. hmm.. I do see they like the H. Crispa...that is good. My lfs has one they don't realise its a A. polymnus. They think its a black percula

I got an A. Allardi from a lfs. it looks really close to the orange fin anemone fish and is hardier. my only problem with them are the few choices for anemones.

my black saddleback is very nice with his anemone

Do the A. Polymnus not ship well? Just curious because bluezoo has a restriction on their guarantee. I thought about Allardi clowns but in my books it says that the H. Crispa isn't their natural host. I don't want to buy a clown that may or may not want my H. Crispa as a host.

i dont know i got her from my LFS. when i was first starting out i asked for an easy anemone not knowing much about them, and the gave me an H. crispa. right when i put the anemone in the clown went right for it. it died tho and about 4 months later i got him a RBTA, which has just split. i think A. polymnus is a natural symbiote with H. crispa, but i could be wrong

yeah:lol:..not yet:p I wish I could have all three but that can't happen. Thats why I'm asking for help :D

The only things I worry about with the A. Sandaracinos is that. I am worried about them getting picked on by the tank mates. Will they be hosted by anything else besides the H. Crispa and S. Mertensii? Orange skunk owners..help me out here:D
