Either will obviously work but I would skip the closed loop and there is no way to recommend the Jebao's, they have not been out long enough to know the long term quality and considering the absolute junk previous Jebo products were, I have doubts. Time will tell if they have improved or not. One nice thing is the price is cheap so if they fail you aren't out much money. You certainly won't be getting the level of service that you would with Tunze or Echotech in the event something doesn't work right.

If those were the only two choices, I would go with the Jebo's, if I wasn't restricted to those two choices I would go with Tunze and not look back.

Watching BoSox v. Orioles SP game. Yay!

Then check out the thread on the pumps in the lighting flow forum. That's a good place to look.
I wasn't trying to turn it in to that was just curious as to why for personal info.
Good luck!

I would only use a cloosed loop or WP-40s. I would not do both.

Then don't do a close loop because as previously posted you most likely will end supplementing your CL with powerheads. BTW I missed the tank dimensions and size, IMO for your plans you need about 8 WP-40s depending on the corals and the amount of rock.

PS. Not to discourage you but I would sell that tank and make some profit on it and get something easier to work on/in. You probably already heard and thought of this but 4' deep is going to be a PITA, you need to get really good at using long clamps and scrapper and/or get a mask to put your half of you body in there to clean and move thing around. It's not impossible and there a few people with those dimensions in the large tanks forums, good luck.

I could make alot of $$$ on this tank if I sold it but im not. I like the dimensions of this tank and will be the perfect size for my house where I want it.

I subscribed to the build thread, it will be fun watching this come together. Fun for me, a lot of work for C Dog, but you will end up with a great tank and setup. My only thought on the Jebao is the flow is a pretty tight stream and you will have need for some wide flow as well with those tank dimensions.

Thanks for following. Which ever option I choose ( leaning towards at least 4 WP-40s)I will fill the tank with water and see how it flows before adding sand, rock, salt.... If Im not happy with is thats the time to figure out what to do.

Why not?

My 180g has a CL with an OM4 (and OM Revolution heads) and Reeflo pump. It makes for very nice random flow as the heads turn every 30 seconds. I have an in sump pump that feeds 'spraybars' down the back glass behind the LR wall. It keeps the LR pretty clean and creates good flow thru the rocks. I wanted a bit more flo and just added the WP40 and after 2 weeks is running just fine. I'll probably switch to 2 of the WP25's when they come out so I can have one at either end. I think 2 WP40's is too much for my tank, but 40% of my tank is LR wall so there is less 'open' water to move with a wave maker powerhead.

Sirreal63 is right about the narrow flow from the WP40.

And if you want good flow at the sand and improve the chances of having no dead spots at the sand/LR area, consider setting the LR up off the sand on eggcrate with pvc pipe for legs. Mine is about 1-2" above the sand and only a few smaller LR lays in the sand at the edge of the eggcrate to hide it.

I dont see a need to run both if set up right. If I go the WP-40 route I may just drill the tank for bulkheads with ball valves and cap them off if the WP-40s dont work. That way If I want to change it I can.

then 14-20 times is no where close to being enough ...

Jack has a great point about the new pumps ... They could leak electricity, get rusted, or many other possibilities, if you do get them, check them often.

Closed loop ... I am personally not a fan of multiple holes in my glass tank ... And the flow is never that good ... Every closed loop system i have seen eventually adds a couple of power heads.

Wp-40s got my vote been reading up on them because my damn vortechs quit on me....... Anyway worst case scenario is the wps don't work out and youve 340 bucks out your pocket. Your closed loop becomes a pita and well your kind of screwed at that point plus there is no drilling with the wps. And there is also a lot more flow.
