Help me decide on Trigger

I need some help on picking a trigger for my reef. Tank is a 240 with 100g sump. It has a very large footprint of 96"x36"x16". You can click my red house to see more about the sytem. I would reallly like to add a pair of Crosshatch triggers to finish my fish stocking. If not a pair then I will do just one of a Pink Tail, Blue Throat or Crosshatch.

My current fisht includes
1 Foxface
1 Sailfin tang
1 White Cheek tang
1 Ruby head wrasse
1 Diamond goby
1 Lawnmower blenny
7 Chromis
4 Anthias

Keep in mind I have a very large and effective skimmer for this system.

Your already way maxed out w/ 17 fish even w/ a good skimmer.

I stongly disagree with this statement. Only 3 are large fish. I have seen too many succesful reefs stocked alot more then this. I know I could do 1 or 2 more large fish. I was planning on 2 more tangs, but I really like the 2 I have now and the others I would want to add would be some of the same species and don't want to chance it. I know 1 trigger is doable but 2 could be possibly too much. That is why I was asking about a pair. Alot of succesful sps reefs are based on heavy import and heavy export of nutrients.

Oh oops it's a 240 gallon. I was looking at the 92 gallon corner by where it says 93 corner tank. Yeah for a 240 gallon the list would be fine. My apologies.

Your list looks like a recipe for success, IMO fairly conservative and a good choice.
I think Crosshatches are awesome but look into the Sargassum trigger, very similar to the blue jaw but slightly more appealling to me.

I like the picasso triggers.

I like them also, but not a good mix for a reef tank.

Geez, I'm reading over everything, and saying all the wrong stuff. i think i need more sleep.

What else would you expect from someone with a block of cheese for a head:rollface:

Anything from the genus Xanthichthys. X. auromarginatus (bluejaw), X. mento (crosshatch), X. caeruleolineatus (only collected less than half a dozen times due to depth), X. lineopunctatus (don't know a thing about them, also called lined triggerfish), X. ringens (Sargassum).

If you're willing to dish out the cash, X. mento is stunning, especially in pairs. X. auromarginatus and X. ringens, bluechin and sargassum, respectively, are both popular due to their much lower price ($60-90 each, depending on vendor and time of year). I personally dig the blue-jaw, but all of the above are planktivores in the wild and will not bother corals, clams, or otherwise in the home aquarium.

There are occasional reports of larger specimens eating crustaceans, but it's not a terribly common occurrence.

cross hatch are nice. but from what i have read even they can be a hit or miss in a reef system. and 17 fish in a 90 is not too many look at reletive size and pooping factor.

Is your tank really 96" long, 36" deep and only 16" high? That might make it a little shallow for some of the bigger triggers, which have some height to them. I'm not sure about crosshatch adult size. Just something to consider...

It is only 16" high. I don't think it will be problem, but I am really leaning towards the Blue Chin and most sights say they get to be about 9". I think a pair of these would make a perfect fit.
