Help me, Deltec ou OCT ? Big Doubt

Hi Guys

I used to run a Deltec 701 in my 200G SPS tank

But with AEFW in my SPS, I gave up and sold everything

Now I ´m back, but with a nano reef with 50G

I loved the Deltec, but the difference in price between deltec and octopus is huge

We know that every 6 months the octopus change the model, change the pump or etc, and Deltec is the same for years, good performance and etc

The Deltec is $ 1100 against $ 265 for an octopus extreme 200

The doubt is, the 701 is outperform the oct 200 ??

Which one should I pick ? If money is not a problem, which one you would buy ??

Best Regards

I would buy the Octopus Extreme 200. And then spend the money I saved on some Stream pumps. But that's just me. :)

I would get a BK cone if you have a grand to spend. I wouldn't waste the money on Deltec, they just aren't keeping up with the new pumps the other skimmer manufacturers are putting out.

The footprint is very similar to the extreme 200.

It is $999 at Premium Aquatics

buy a BK cone and save the $ for future purchase of Wavemaker. that is a wiser choice...
do not settle for a lower end skimmer unless you really plan to upgrade it in near future

Guys,

I just saw now the new BK cone

This skimmer should be better than Deltec ? Looks an awesome skimmer, almost the same price of Deltec

It would eat the deltec!!!!!!!'

This will be the best cone on the market, it has a 6inch neck. I have one on order.

It may be extreme overkill for a 50 gallon tank.

They are coming out with a smaller version later this summer.

My nano is for SPS, no problem, so I can feed a lot :D

But premiumaquatics don´t tell for how many gallons is this new BK cone

Tudo bom. How is reefing in Brazil?

Look into the Vertex IN180 or even the Vertex IN250 if you want to save money, and want a skimmer that really works awesome. Best skimmer under $325

If money isn't an object, give the ATB cone a look as well. It's better sized for your tank. The smaller model.

1500lph and a 6 inch neck like the Vertex cone is way overkill for a 50g, the skimmer will have a hard time keeping a stable foam head.
