help me deside the best type of goby or jawfish and your experiences with them?

I did not cut the couplings, I left them as long as they are that is about 4 to 5" of sand.
Of course you can cut them out of 11/2" PVC pipe, it is cheaper but is more work and it is not that easy to make square stright cuts unles you have a table saw.
Cut them as deep as you like your sand bed to be usually 4 to 5 inches.

okk . how do i have a frame well 2 thin ones that i can sandwich my plastic screen betreen, then glue together. or just one frame that ill glue the screen to ,

Wouldn't screen interfere with the light?
I think you can make a frame out of wood if you like.
 
Bluespot jawfish are delicate in my expericence. Go with yellowheads O.aurifrons instead. Duskys are really cool and hardy but larger ones will potentially eat small shrimp.

As for gobies nothing beats the ubiquitous Yellow Watchman goby. I've had a pair for going on 5 years now and they are just awesome fish - hardy, disease resistant, gorgeous and tons of personality.

The catalina is a cool water fish - not good for reef tank temperatures.
