Help me finish out my 100% Aussie reef

I'm in the process of stocking my 180. My goal is for it to be a docile community tank, and all new additions Aussie, or as close to Australian as possible. Most all of my coral is Aussie. Fish wise, so far I have:

- Large Naso Blonde Tang (Not Aussie, I know, but a long time pet of mine)
- 2 False percs
- Mystery Wrasse
- Aussie Scott's Fairy Wrasse
- Lineatus Fairy Wrasse
- Exquisite Fairy Wrasse
- Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse
- Flame Hawk

I'm interested in a small group of Anthias, but I've had terrible luck with anthias in the past. Are any anthias hardy? Any other suggestions? Gobies? Jawfish? Another tang? Anything?

btw, I have a very large skimmer (Octopus SRO 5000sss) and need to stock heavily in order to maximize skimmer productivity.

Many thanks

Pretty sure jawfish are illegal in Aussie land ;)

Why not a tusk and a Cheatodontoplus angel. Thats what comes to mind when I think Aussie.

i agree that this is a great idea, post up some pictures! hawkfish sounds like a great addition.

jhawkor i had thought about doing one for hawaii as well it would be great, post up a thread going through the process if you decide to do it.

You should get what you want, but......Im not quite sure why you are pigeonholing yourself to an Australian species, when your tank is decidedly not "100% Aussie", by your own admission, with the Naso.

I, too, think that locale tank are novel, but you cant accomplish this, so why limit yourself?

I realize that I cant truly accomplish this with the fish, but I'd like to try to come close. Diving the great barrier was my inspiration for even attempting this. All my corals are from that region, so I thought I'd also try to compliment them with native fish. But honestly, I dont know what fish available to us are from Australia.

I like the idea of an endemic species reef. I want to do one for Hawaii...
Indeed. I plan on moving to HI in a few years, and will most likely be blessed with an all Hawaiian tank then. Will be super cool to be able to make that happen.

I think its a good idea. Ok, set up another tank for the tang or give him away and get a juvenille emperor angel?

LOL, not gonna happen. My Naso is the absolute coolest fish I've ever had. I hand feed him, dude even lets me pet him. I guess I should have said, besides the Naso, what Aussie fish can I add? Angels are out due to all my LPS. I would love an angel though, just not at the expense of my scolys and other aussie LPS.

Lets suppose for a minute that I did try a juve emperor angel. How long would he/she stay juve, and at what point would the fish start adding LPS to it's diet? Sounds like a long term bad idea to me.

The copperband is found in the australian great barrier reef, indo-pacific and indian ocean. Lovely fish!
Maybe the emp would be bad-be nice though wouldnt it? Some have success though.

you do know that the scotts fairy is very aggressive to other fairy wrasses and will be very aggressive to that flasher... probally the most aggressive fairy out of the bunch..they also lose alot of color unless they aer housed with feamles..i like the idea that you are going with though...the exqusite also falls into one of the fairies that lose alot of color with out females..i can try to dig up some pics and i will show you how my aussie scotts color faded
