Hello
This is first time posting here.
I m in this hobby for 3 and 1/2 years and I just upgraded from 125 gal to 320 gal DIY plywood reef tank, 75 gal sump.
I bough this fish 3 month ago, it eats like pig and grow more than 3" in 3 month.I thoug it was thomson tang, but as it grows changed color,( no more white vertical strip on tail) I don't think it is Thomson tang. I would like to know what it is.
Thank you
I m not sure if I loaded picture ok ?

yes that's acanthurus mata, one of the 5 biggest acanthurus tangs (mata, barien, blochii, dussemieri, fowleri). This guy will grow to 20" in the wild so expect at least 12-14" in captivity. Your 320g may be too small when it gets to that size, depending on who else are in the tank.

I have an acanthurus bariene which I acquired about 15 months ago at 4.5". Now it's around 8". These species as you already noticed grow very big very fast. I hope my 375g won't look too cramped when it gets to a foot long!
