Help me narrow my fish choice down

I have a bio cube 8 that has been up for about 8 weeks. I am in the process of choosing my one and only fish to put in it here is what i have narrowed down. I have listed my concerns about each fish. The only other inhabitants are 3 sexy shrimp (1) hermit and (1) astrea snail

Purple fire fish- only drawback is they really do not do much but hover in one spot. I really like interaction with the rock work

Rainfords goby- i am worried about him starving out, i would have to wait a few months for the tank to mature even then i am not sure.

red lip blenny-the more i look at the tank the more it seems to small for a blenny

bi color dottyback- same dilema as the blenny plus he may eat my sexy shrimp

yellow tail blue damsel-almost the perfect fish IMO hardy, mega cheap, swims in the rocks and eats like a pig. only problem there common as hell

Starki damsel-not to sure how big they actually get but cool as hell looking. also $45 at the fish store.

Ant other suggestions or ideas?

I have no interest in a clown fish or any bottom dwelling goby.

I love My purple fire fish, he is always out and in the center of my tank. Plus they do this cool tick thing with their top fin.

Looks like you've done some research. My vote is for one of the damsels. They are hearty and actually very striking and not picky about food. I would have lots if they got along with other fish. I'm not familiar with the Starki damsel, I'll have to look them up. I agree about the fire fish. they could be fish lures bobbing in the water the amount of interaction they do. Blenny's mostly sit around though Lawnmowers greet you and do their dance and beg for food and have lots of personality but Damsels are constant motion and bright colors. Your choice.... do you want them to be striking in color or more interactive with personality?

i was thinking maybe a blue assessor but i am not that familiar with them. From what i have seen of them they appear to kind of hover in one spot like the royal grammas

what does your blenny eat? would he do well in 8 gallon? I know my lawnmoser mostly cruises the rocks and rarely eats the goodies I feed plus he is 6 inches long now which would be too big for an 8 gallon.

anything and every thing i put in the tank. He loves to hang out in my football sized green star polyp rock. I just have this feeling the 8 is to small for onee.

My lawnmower is the oldest inhabitant still in my tank. (various fish though still alive are no longer in my tank). Could be 6 years. I have to resurrect my Palm Desktop to know for sure. People have remarked that he is the biggest, fattest Lawnmower that they've ever seen. He was in my 240 before the 210 so I'm sure he's bigger than he would be if he had lived in a smaller tank.

I would go with the yellow tail blue damsel. They do have lots of personality and swim a lot. They are common, but I think that is ok. I don't really like the way the starcki looks at all.

I've got a bicolor blenny, Cerulean Damsel, and a firefish in a 20g. Each fish is pretty neat on his own. If I had to chose one I would go with a damsel. Like you said, tough as nails and mega cheap I only paid $2 for mine :).

I ended up with a regular firefish. He was $15. I went to get a damsel and my wife fell in love with the firefish so i got one. Small trade off since the tank is in our bedroom.
