Help Me Out w/ TTM (little confused)

Hello all. I have been doing TTM on all my purchases, but wanted to make sure I am doing this right because my wife read the sticky about TTM and she started confusing me about the 3 day count. So here it goes, I purchased a fish last night around 7:30 (Tuesday) and went into the 1st tank when I got home, so this begins transfer #1. Now for transfer #2 will it be Thursday or Friday because if I am right Tuesday will be counted as a day right? I have it scheduled in my phone, but if someone can verify a schedule it will surely helped to make sure I am doing this right. Thanks to all.

I think you're correct, you count Tuesday as a full day.

So Thursday in the early morning is when you transfer.

Your transfers should be prior to every 72 hours. So Wednesday 7:30 is 24 hours. Thursday 7:30 is 48 hours. Friday 7:30 is 72 hours. Do it prior to the 72 though, otherwise restart the entire process. You can also do every 48 hours if wanted, make sure you hit 12 days if doing every 48 hours.

Not entirely true the transfers need to be done first thing in the morning before the lights come on since ich "falls off" at night otherwise the transfers do nothing since the ich never left the fish. Also I like to do a 4th final transfer to make sure the fish is ich free (in case you missed some on one of the previous transfers)

From the sticky, I believe it states that the morning thought is not entirely accurate, but more so the time frame between transfers.

Thanks all for the helpful info. I thought I was right, it would have to transferred by 7:30, Friday evening.

I believe the new consensus is "night time" transfer doesn't matter anymore. It's more important to keep it under 72 hours total. This means you can start your first transfer during day time and keep transferring a few hours before 3 days time.

Good to know. I have always done it in the mornings before the light came on and have had no issues doing it that way.

I think the confusion is when does the 72hr clock start? I think it starts when you transfer to the 1st tank.

Monday @ 1pm transfer to 1st tank. Next transfer should happen before Thursday @ 1pm

I did it the old school way Derrick did it: in the early AM. like 6-7 AM, on that "third" day. Glad to know night time is acceptable.

sorry.. somehow i read it as start Monday because mine just started Monday.. Tue > Fri is 72 hours. so anytime before fri 7:30

Ok. I understand. Thank everyone for your verification of this. Now I can go argue with the wife and let her know I was right. I got 2 Butterflies and they were eating on day 1.

I just remember this cadence: transfer on day 1 (initial transfer), 4, 7, 10 and 13 (final transfer to cycled QT). As others have stated above, ensuring you don't exceed 72 hours between transfers is critical. Time of day is not, although I prefer to do transfers in the morning before lights on.

ok. I don't have any lights on my TTM tanks. Only light is the light from the sun that creeps through the closed blinds.
