Hello. I have a 29g mixed reef with 3 small fish. I'm currently running an aquac remora pro and thinking of upgrading. From reading on here I am pretty sure I will go with reef octopus. Which is better, the bh90 or bh1000? Or is my tank too small for those?

I don't really have the room under the tank to fit a sump. I could not fit a 10gallon under there so I gave up on that idea. The tank is a truvu with a built in sump in the back. The back is black so any equipment in there is hidden. I use all hob equipment run out of the sump.

Reef octopus works great for me.

Hi,

According to the guy in the coralvue forum (the people who import the octopus skimmers), the Bh 90 is supposed to be better than the Bh 1000 since it uses a cylindrical design as opposed to a box. However, both use the same pump and I would imagine that performance wouldn't be that much different. The Bh 1000 and it larger stable mate have been around a while and have gained a pretty good reputation. The Bh 90 is a very new product that has only been around for a month and I haven't seen any reviews. I am looking for a good hob like you are and I just bought the Bh 90. I will write a review in a couple weeks when I have it up and running. Also, be sure to check out the the aquamaxx hob and even the bubble magus Nac 5e. There are also the the super reef octopus hob skimmers which are awesome but are probably overkill for 29 gallon tank.

X2 sump.

Both the BH100 and BH1000 are pretty large HOB skimmers. They will look kinda weird sitting on the back of a 29g.

They are both great skimmers though. I ran a BH100 hanging on a 75g and it was a fantastic HOB skimmer.
