is that glacier water any good??? looking to get away from lfs water... may be causing my hair algae continuation

Bad idea. I used them a couple of times until I tested the water, 54ppm. Never again. Instead I used the red cap water from winn dixie (I had a nano so it was cost effective). After the tank upgrade I got a RO DI.

after waiting nearly 2 weeks for delivery my R/O unit finally arived today :D now my only problem is figuring out how to hook this dam thing up .... just by looking at it i was confused so i read the instuctions which left me even more confused :eek2: ... im sure most of you hooked these up on your own so any advice is appreciated

btw this is the unit i ended up getting

yeah good pick. I have had good luck with mine. The instructions were kinda confusing. But I am getting good water out so I assume I got it right. I hooked it up above my washing maching. split the cold water line to the maching. works great. Good luck.

Did you hook it up yet? Also, let it run off several galons before using the water for your tank. It puts out carbon dust and other crap that is in the filters that you don't want going into your aquarium. Did it bring a TDS (total dissolved solids) meter? If not they are cheap and will let you know how clean the water actually is. It should be 0 ppm for a while and it will start to creep up with time.

so i still havnt hooked it up yet but i have a few questions ... first the one i got has 2 outputs one for drinking and the other for reef my question is can i hook it it up and just use the reef output for now until i get the tank, faucet ect. for the drinking water ?? also i plan to get a brute container for my storage but the question i have about that is would it be alright to have the r/o unit under the sink but the brute container on the side of the house about 15' away?? would that be too far?? id kinda like to not have a trash container chillin on my porch if possible ..... and one last question my r/o unit didnt come with the tank or faucet for the drinking water .... wheres my best bet to find that stuff?? i found it online but they want $22 for shipping so i was hoping someone know of a local place (i havnt even checked homedepot yet :p )

Yes you can use just the aquarium side by putting a shut off valve on the drinking water side until you get your faucet and tank. The distance to the brute should not be a problem. I will be running mine about 30' to my auto top off tank. I think Davie Plumbing will carry the tank and faucet setup if Home Depot does not. Davie plumbing is in the Home Depot shopping center at Sterling Rd and University Drive.

thanks btw yur avatar had me thinking i had a fly on my screen lol i just saw it out of the corner of my eye and i tried to swap it away a few times before i realized lmao
