Roger,

I am leaning toward using 2 streams in my 180g (72x24x24). Tank will be setup as a soft coral tank (think loads of colts & ricordia). In the future, I may get into SPS.

Having said that, I only want to have to make one stream kit purchase in this lifetime. Would I be better off getting the TS24 kit from the start and dialing them down for the soft corals or should I just stick with 2 6000's on the 7094?

Keep in mind - I plan on mounting them on the back glass (one in each corner) using the magnet mounts and having them angled toward the front glass (i think you stated in another thread that they can angle about 30 degrees).

Since the tank will be soft corals, I figure this will allow me to hide the streams behind my rock formations as well as providing strong indirect flow to all the corals.

Thanks in advance,
Ben

I would get 2 6000's. I also would wait for the new 7095 controller in the fall. If needed when you switch to SPS you just need to buy the transformers for the 6100 and you may be out $10 over if you just bought the 6100 to begin with. Placing the 6100 behind rocks is a bad idea for two reasons. The pumps need to be cleaned and need to be accessible. The flow distribution will be horrible, the flow doesn't have the amount of force required to get through and around the rocks- high flow, low pressure.

Roger,

Thanks for the reply. Let me make sure I understand:

Get 2 6000's with the 7095 controller. Don't mount them behind rock formations, but with the magnet - place them on the back wall of the tank (up near the top) and angle them toward the front.

re: possible future upgrade to 6100's for SPS... Once I have the 6000's and the 7095, upgrading would require me to buy 2 new 6100 streams and transformers? or just transformers?

Is there a target date for when the 7095 will be available?

Thanks for all of your help,
Ben

woohoo! thanks for the quick response. I may have to dip into some student loan money so that I can get these pieces in October. :D
