Help me re-stock my tank

After a total livestock crash from velvet I am now completely fish-less.

I've setup a better cupramine qt this time around so i can qt while the tank is fallow.

My tank is 48"x24"x16" with a 40b sump, BB, it is all sps, and I'm looking for a very vibrant community tank. I'd also like for some of the species to be naturally close to acropora.

That... Sucks... Sorry to hear. I'm a huge clown fish fan, love wrasses (red head salon fairy wrasse is my favorite), and hawk fish. I've always had good luck with flame hawks and they've never bothered other inhabitants as some people claim they do. Tangs too.. Currently I have a yellow and a blue hippo tang. Good luck on getting your tank back up and running [emoji106]

For sure. I love wrasses but the bare bottom doesn't work for them. I have a small wrasse den but nothing big enough for anything but a mckoskers.

If there are any fish species that live closely to acropora. I know clown gobies live closely with them but can damage them for instance.

My anthias and chromis live and sleep inside the branches of my acros. I would expect blennies and gobies would do the same.

Fairy and flasher wrasses do not need a sand bed, they build a mucus cocoon to sleep in. Halichoeres and the leopard wrasses on the other hand do require a sand bed.

This.

Also, look into Swallowtail Angelfish. Extremely reef friendly. I have a spotbreast swallowtail and I love her personality. Swims end to end of my 5ft. Loves the current. Gets along with everyone.

Yeah I had a spotbreast she was one of my favorite and first to go when velvet hit.

I'm hoping to get some kind of flatworm control because im paranoid with my sps. Just recently got reef raft wolverine and some other high end acros which would be terrible to lose. I'd liquidate.

From everything I've read, and I could be wrong, nothing is very reliable for eating FW. Prevention is best.

Just speaking from my experience, and seeing it happen with a few other friend's tanks, I have kept Halichoeres in bare bottom without noticeable issue. They find a dark corner of the rockwork and make that their safe spot. Not ideal, but I have moved frequently the last few years and it was best to not have sand in tanks being moved every 6-12 months for me. I plan on sand again once I am more firmly established due to more aesthetics than anything else.
